Our DETECH is often referred to as a Social Security Number Search. With only a Social Security Number, you can obtain a DETECH report from Equifax's nationwide database. The data provided will indicate the name of the individual to whom the number was originally issued, a listing of their current and former addresses, the year and state in which the number was issued, and a listing of any other individuals who may have also used the number.
Historically, the DETECH has been useful in locating individuals who have skipped out while owing money. It is likely that accessing this report will assist you in finding a new address for the person you are trying to locate.
The DETECH report is also tremendously useful when trying to verify "No Record Found" report. On occasion you may receive a report that indicates your applicant has had no credit history. It is highly unlikely that an individual older than 21 years of age would have no credit history and no inquiries made upon their credit. Thus, it is important to investigate the social security number they declare to rule out any illegal activity.
